Autonet Group Holding (AGH) is joining forces with Augsburg International (AI) to strengthen its position in the Central and Eastern Europe regions

Cham (CH), 8. October 2021

Shareholders of AGH, an integral part of the SAG group, ranked fifth in the European aftermarket sector, have reached an agreement with AI, one of Romania's most important independent auto parts distributors. According to the agreement, AGH acquires a majority stake in AI. As a result, AGH owns a 51% stake, while AI's current shareholders will retain  49%. Due to this alliance, the SAG-AGH group gains two positions in the European top of spare parts distributors. AIR and AI will maintain their separate brands, operating in parallel, continuing their activity as before and addressing the same customer groups.

Both companies have been operating on the Romanian market for more than 25 years, sharing a number of common characteristics: a similar business model, the same values and a similar organizational culture. AGH and AI will continue to be top employers, both in terms of their current teams and with regard to their future employees.

“This year, we have been able to take an important step towards the consolidation of the AGH through a new partnership that makes us very proud: we have joined forces with AI, Romania's fourth biggest player in the auto aftermarket segment. As a result, AGH is already present in five countries with 14 companies.”, said Mihály Lieb, AGH founder and shareholder.

“We are confident about the future of mobility in our country; within the next ten years the motorization index will improve significantly in countries where AGH is present and we will do our utmost to capitalize on this trend, for the benefit of our company and our partners.”, added Mr. Lieb.

“Analyzing the future of the European automotive market and the challenges that emerge in our sector, AI's alliance with AGH was only a matter of time.  We have been competitors for more than 25 years on the Romanian market, but we have always shared common values. These shared values and a similar business model have enabled this collaboration, of which we are extremely proud and look forward to with optimism.”, stated Marius Constantinoiu, AI founder and shareholder.

“Together, under the Swiss SAG Group umbrella, we will be one of the important competitors on the European market. This position will bring an increase in value for both companies, our colleagues and customers. I look forward to the opportunities that this new context will bring, continuing to operate as an independent company and at the same time, as a member of a European family.”, added Mr. Constantinoiu.

The completion of the transaction is contingent on the receipt of all the necessary approvals from the regulatory authority.
